Hi,

I have a bmw x1 2019 uk (sDrive18d).
I have no electrical/IT background. I did an Evo ID5/ID6 navigation upgrade.
I have installed an android version before.
Now I want add a rear view camera.
I have got a camera I-cam2-r (pic attached)
I have no clue if this is the correct camera.
I would like some help with where to insert the wires (pic attached)
Happy to pay for the time with a gift card.
I have been reading the forums and have come across a few bmw retrofit pdf’s but they are not detailed and there is no video I can find no YouTube about how to install I-cam2-r.
Also there is a link about f56 mini retrofit but again not lots of pics.
I need dummy proof pdf.
I just want to know if this camera will work with my car and were to insert the wires.

They you will need the wires also. You can look at the pdf posted above for required part or you can buy the retrofit kit complete.

The wires that I have in the pic above, will they not work ??
I can fit the camera and take the wiring to the head unit.
The only other thing I need help with is “where do I plug the wires”.

I will really appreciate an your help with the wiring.

That should work, But you will also have to replace the tailgate button which have its wires

For the tail gate button you just have to take out the clip and attach to the new handle.

I don’t think that will be a problem.

Now you have solved 2 of my issues.
I know the camera I need and I know that the wiring I have is the correct one.

The last thing I need help with will be where to put the wires that I have circled in black.

Please list which wqires are not the same. wire diagram including colors is in the EBA chapter 6.
Which wire doesn’t match? hard to judge from rolled up bunch.

Blue connector on your photo is on the camera end btw, thats what I know for sure.

My problem is the EBA you post is for f48 but the wiring I have is for G series.
Let me see if I can attach photos. I don’t know how to attach pictures to the replies.

I have 3 wires going to the black connector and 2 free wires, as per the G series EBA.
In F48 EBA the wiring marked A has 8 wires coming out of it and also in the same EBA there is extra wiring marked F. I don’t have it.

Probably you don’t wire marked F, as in most cars this is already installed. This is what I am talking about in the other thread you found.

F is used between R3 & BDC. Did you locate these? See this post for location: https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=11

Then check using the wire diagram if you have wires in place. So you know if you need F or not.

OK; Just following and reading the EBA one finds out that.

Follow the Wires from the Blue Connector:
1. Green & White twisted pair should go to R3. Location see previous post
2. Brown wire with flat contact should go into Z10*7B. See same post for location.
3. The white, green & yellow with the black connector must go to the headunit into the big quadlock connection at the headunit.
4. The red violet should go to power of the PDC unit (see this post https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...2&postcount=16 and chapter4/page9 From the F48 EBA) You need to splice / solder



That’s all your wires.

As for wire 3. You might need to disconnect this tiny connector and fit it into the big connector at the headunit

I just realised that I might have confused you.
The twisted wires are part of the 3 wires that go to the BLACK connector.
