I recently changed the grille on my x1 f48. It quite literally took me about 20 minutes, once the top tabs were out it was really simple. You definitely do not need to remove the bumper.

Have now also ordered the Performance black.
According to bmw workers, this is very easy to remove without bumper at the LCI. Hope I get this easily installed without damage. Pictures follow |

So I got to work today.
Duration about 20 minutes. Rubber strip and 4 screws underneath remove. Kidney pull something to himself and press with a plastic wedge the noses. After the upper ones were loosened, I could press the lower holders with my hand. Everything remained intact without scratches. |

Black Kidney Grill

*Can you confirm this is the correct p/n: 51138080619. *How did you manage to free the top clips, as I found them to be a very tight fit, when I attempted to remove my chrome grill. *You say it took you only 20 mins to remove your grill. Any tips on the best way would be much appreciated. *Did you break any clips when removing your grill. Thanks, CannyScot. |

My 2018 Xdrive Xline 20D came with the black plastic grill to go with its Mediterranean blue paintwork and I thought the chrome grill was an extra order spec but it’s grown on me in the 9 months and 7k I’ve owned him

I need to replace one of the grilles after a pheasant flew into it. As you say, it doesn't matter if it breaks some more, as it's just going in the bin, but is there any danger of bits dropping where they can't be retrieved? Plus, is there anything else that could be damaged/scratched by just ripping the old one out?

just did mine
i must admit that i underestimated the job (compared to ye ole e46), upper and side clips were not that hard, lower ones a PITA ! I ended broke 2 lower clips on the old grill what makes me unhappy is the gap from the bonnet to the grills which now seems a loooooooooooooot wider, despite the fact that the car is black and with chromed ones should be more evident..(gaps on side fenders are ok, so i dunno if is ok to adjust the hinges) |

Did someone order this type of grill. Double slat version https://www.amazon.in/Car-Craft-X1-F.../dp/B09X7D2PN1 /
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...Cquery_from%3A I am looking to replace the grill to make a DIY project with Iconic Glow as inspiration on this: https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1922515. The thing however is that the original grill has not big enough flat area to fit a led light. (see attached picture) It looks like those Dual Slat types have bigger area. 1. Is that really true? hard to judge from pictures and aliexpress sellers or not that helpful 2. Can this version separate the outer rim like shown on the video on the first page of this topic (see around 1m43s) Last edited by mrpingu; 01-10-2024 at 07:01 AM.. |
