I managed to add 3AG to VO and coded HU_ENTRYNAV and PMA2

still no cam display.

I checked FDL for CAM_ECU and still not present

Should i be doing something else?

Also should i see ICAM module when i read ECU?

Thanks

Hmm but you did press code on headunit ECU and PMA?
No only written modified FA to the car?

There is a difference between coding the affected ECUs and writing FA to the car. Just to be sure

Yes, you should see ICAM but this can take at your car needs to sleep before it is powered on. Had that once, VO coded every affected module but wouldn’t power up the new ECU. Only after car had been in sleep.

tested again and still no joy...

i dont get why i dont see "CAM_ECU" in HU Module and no ICAM module??

fuses i checked all good.

traced wiring pins all good.

If camera wasnt working.... i should still see the display trying to view the camera, but instead i get usual PDC image of my car in the middle...

Did you try to press the video-icon with r on the left, what happens then?

If that doesn't work

Can you post a screenshot of TAL calculation?

Go to Comfort Mode => TAL-Calculating
- Read and Save FA
- Activate FA
- Read and Save SVT Actual as SVT_ist
- Create an SVT Target
Under KIS/SVT Target Calculation Strategy, select Complete Flash
Select I-Step (shipm.) to match your original I-Level as read and shown in VCM I-Step (Shipment)
I-Step (target.) will be unselectable as it is fixed based on current PSdZData I-Level
Do a KIS/SVT Target Calculation and Save as SVT_soll
- Do a TAL Calculation and Save as SVT_tal

Edit:
1) And try to install ISTA and see if you get any errors on the ECU tree.
2) Did you also check with multimeter if you are getting 12V between Ground & camera ECU?
3) You are sure that you are plugged into CAN3 / R3?

You sure you are not missing any wire at any place?

TRSVC is camera.

Seems ICAM is not found that means it cannot be reached on the canbus3. So either the camera is not compatible or the canbus is not wired up corrrectly or the ecu is getting no power /turning on. Probably wire is not in place or wring pin somewhere. You should get ICAM up in esys to code after coding PMA & HU.

You can doulbe check partnumber of camera seems like over at the mini forum someone had similiar problem

Checked wiring to and from R3 and camera, no breaks..

Camera part number is 9475687 - seems to be compatible..

wiring on canbus r3 is
R3 pin 22 & 9
C* pin 7 - yellow
C* pin 8 Yellow\white

need to find long wire to test BDC to R3.. this is only one putting me off..

also found on one of the forum for HU wiring:
Nbt uses 21, 23 24.
Cic high uses 18, 27, 28
Tried the above and still failed to see anything.

stumpppeeddd....

I don’t know to do either.

Start with canbus debugging, if it’s not connected to headunit then it should only miss video but if canbus is missing / wrong then you don’t get any communication at all.

Just check all the wires from BDC to R3 and from R3 to camera. According the diagram ignore colors, focus on the pins.

But also check if you have not mixed up R3 with R2.

And just like that, hey Presto......

What a bloody nightmare. Was the R3 to cam wiring. Swapped them around and working straight away. Dont understand the pins were match as per diagram.

Spent days and days troubleshooting. But got there.

I can't thank you enough and for your patient. I owe you a drink

Thanks a million.

Hello guy,
I am trying to retrofit my X1 F48 with rear camera same way as you did.
Was that big pain in the ass?
How was coding like?
I code only with bimmercode until now.
Thanks for answering me

Coding is recommend to VO-code and thus use E-sys. I say so because VO-coding ensures that if you reset all values the camera will keep functioning.

I am not sure if BimmerCode has access to the PMA / PDC module, but if it does then you can use Bimmercode expert mode to code the values from post 18.

If I have to guess one PITA for this retrofit, its is routing the cable through the lid. Otherwise I would say it's pretty straight forward.

Unfortunately,I don’t have an R3 connector but there are blue and green wires on pin 43 and 44. Is there a way to connect a4 and a5 wires directly to this green and blue wires without putting R3*1B connector(wire A4 to F3 and A5 to F4)? I mean what does this ground wire F2 from F cable from manual used for?
