Fronts don't quite fit, options?

Today I mounted RGRs from my e36 and the fronts don't quite fit. What options might I have? The fronts are 18 x 8, 35mm offset - currently on 235/40 tire.

When I put them on, the tire was pretty close to the shock but definitely clear. It would rotate freely while off the ground. When I took it out for a slow drive there was a tiny, but definitive vibration which sure felt like something very minor rubbing, but upon taking the wheel off again I could find no signs of rubbing anywhere.

That aside, it most certainly is rubbing badly on the outside edge of the tire over bigger bumps. Below are some pictures of the fitment, and you can see the white marks on the outside edge from the rubbing.

What options might I have here? Would dropping to a 225 size tire definitely solve the issue? What about camber plates (and while still under factory warranty)? I'd really love to make these work because they look fantastic, and if I can't get it to work then I'll be forced to buy a new set of wheels ($$) because of current circumstances. Any help would be tremendously appreciated!!

Fitment (and tire scuffs after first pic):

Overall look,

That's rough if you are rubbing like that at stock ride height. Space to the fender up front is a bad joke.

Not many options here...Drop down width in the tire but even then...that's a lot of poke to begin with.

225 would not be a problem. OEM is a 215 on a 7.5 so a 225 on an 8 inch wide wheel will work fine. You may even want to try 215 on the 18x8. Your rims aren't going to be rubbing the strut at 35et. Add 1-1.5 degree of negative camber and you won't have to worry about any fender rolling.

Many run wheels of that dimension on our cars. They add a little camber if they want to run slightly stretched tires. They add more camber if they want to run wider tires.

Pull the pins and maybe try some of the twist in spring separators they sell at Autozone for now until you get a chance to do more.

Run 225's and add some camber up front.

Perhaps with a little more camber they will fit? A set of Ground Control or other quality brand camber plates will run you ~$400. It's not like that money is "wasted" if that doesn't do the trick.

I run a 17x8.5 ET40 w/a 5mm Spacer (so ET35) with a 245/40 Dunlop ZII Tire.

I have -3.6* Camber and lowered around 1.5". I have no problems with front fitment. I do rub on sudden bumps during autocrossing under high compression

You need camber. The Dinan plates by themselves should be enough to get that particular setup to fit. If you want to go wider in the future, pick up some Vorshlag plates, and get ready to roll fenders.

Just do the camber plates and roll the fender a little bit. No need to spend more money on two new tires lol

This my front 225 tire. Et38. I rub too on harsh compression on the track but that's about it and it's not that bad, that's with no camber plate or pin pulled and no fender rolling. The car is lowered too. So you getting the camber plates and rolling a little bit you should be fine man.

I don't want to mess with the fenders, the tires on there are relatively old anyways, and I also want to get the TPM sensors installed as well, so four new Michelin Pilot A/S 3's for me.

What is a reasonable time (hours) to have a shop install the camber plates? 4 hours?

Camber plates up front should fit those 235s no problem.

Damn those RGRs look good!

Maybe two hours if they know what they are doing or 3 tops.
