RS3 V2s or PSS for the street

Pretty much I want to have better 60 foot times in the dry on the street, I am not retarded that I have to rely on DSC in the wet but there will be times where I will use the motorway in the wet, the max speed limit here will soon be 130km/h which is 80mph.

I am worried about doing a Jeremy Clarkson and aqua planing, I dont want to not drive my car in the rain. (255)

I also wont be warming up my tyres beforehand, if this is required to get more sticky than the PSSs then the RS3s are no way preferable to me.

Here is a review of the RS3:
Quote:
Absolutely perfect in regards to dry weather traction and aggressive cornering. Noisy on the highway, but not as bad as say a TOYO R888. Wet traction is tricky and can be a bit dangerous if you drive a hogh horsepower RWD car.

Should I get RS3 V2s or PSS?

Any tire without getting to operating temp is going to be absolutely terrible in 60'

With that being said, RS3 isn't the right choice. A tire like Z2 might suit you better, but still you're going to spin the tire when it is at ambient.

K thanks, so would PSS be the best ambient temp grip?

By ambient, I mean and assume you mean, driving around casually for 30 mins temp.

We have PSS on our f30 335i, in NSW too. All I can say is that they're bloody awesome tyres, quiet, smooth, sticky. Would highly recommend them
St George Tyres in Arncliffe have them for pretty cheap when they have them in stock, for 225/18 and 255/18 I think they have them for around $350 each.

What puts me off them is this though:

Its just not keeping up with the DCT gearbox, the car has none of these problems at the strip where the tarmac is a lot more sticky.

Im hoping the cars tyres were overinflated.

The R-S3 is intended for track use. Definitely not the most ideal situation for a car that is also being driven on the street with them. The PSS will be good in a variety of situations.

K thanks guys, before I order the PSS is there anything else I should consider? I am not looking for very good all round performance, I would rather give some of that up for cold dry performance.

Two other popular and cheaper alternatives would be the Bridgestone pole position S-04 tires and the continental extreme contact DW (not the DWS). Not sure what the price differences are there. You definitely can't go wrong with the PSS and the other two here won't perform QUITE as well, but are somewhat close. Only downsides of the pole positions is they're kinda heavy and some people say they're a little loud, but others prefer them cause I think they may have a stiffer sidewall than the PSS. I forget who, but someone on the forum just put the pole positions on and really likes them and was explaining why.

I'd say get the PSS, can't go wrong, so just giving you popular other options. Everyone can agree that anything is better than the runflats!

I've had both and the R-S3 kills on the track after they are warmed up, but before a significant warm up they are sketchy at best. I drive them on the street now, but the PSS's and the Bridgestone RE-11's were both better street tires.
