261M Max Tire width?

Has anyone ran 265 in the rear of their 135i with m sport?

Once my RFT are done, looking to get some PSS or similar in 265 - would also consider running 255 with wheel spacers, going for the super wide in the ass look.

Im running 225/40f and 255/35r RE11's on my 261's, and use my 135i on the track and street. I have no spacers and no rubbing.

265/35 might be pushing it and 9.5" rim width is typically used for this.

Style 261's are staggered 18x7.5"f and 18x8.5"r.

Most people say 255 or 265 is the max you want to go with a 8.5" rim. I know lots of people who run 275s on a 8" rim but thats from people who don't auto x those cars. I'm not sure if it makes much of a difference for the 261M rims since they were designed for RFTs but maybe someone who does will chime in.

I'd say just to go with the "wide" rear tire look is cool but you can find 255 sized tires that have more contact patch (for better grip) than a 265 sized tire. But if you want the wide tire look then go ahead and throw a good 265 on there.

Pilot Super Sports 255mm rear on stock-dimension wheels barely clear the fenders for me, without rolling. I don't think you'll need spacers, and I don't know if 265's will fit without rolling .

Thanks for the answers! I may try some 265's and just roll the fender if needed. A couple shops in the city do fender rolling day around this time of the year.

225/40f - 255/35r PSS on stock M suspension and wheels on my DD; no rub with passengers. BTW, this is max recomended tire width recomended by Michelin on 7.5f - 8.5r wheels. 265's will be a pinch (wheels and possibly fenders or rear suspension). I have not tried yet 265's yet.

Technically speaking, a 255/35/18 is the widest recommended tire size that will fit on that rear wheel. If you put a 265 or wider on, it will be bulging over the side of the wheel.
