Put the summer tires on today: Thanks!
Last year I bought Michelin PSS for my car based on info here. They are great!
As the cold weather approached, I again visited 1Addicts for advice on good winter tires. Square setup with Bridgestone Blizzaks. We had numerous snow events here and I got through them with no issues. Those did the job in the cold, but today back to the summer setup. Thanks for all the advice here!

Hey D... are you running 225/40-18 and 255/35-18 on the stock wheels? Coz I'm about the buy them.
Deciding between Michelin PSS & Bridgestone S-04 Pole position. The PSS's are $1090 vs. $835 for the S-04's. But I have read that the Michelin's last longer so the price difference might not be an issue. any advice? thanks.

After running with Michelin PA3 runflats and winter wheels during the winter, I put the PSSs back on my car last week. The difference is obviously night and day. When deciding to stick with runflats for winter tires, I assumed that the PA3 runflats would ride no more harshly than the stock Dunlop summer runflats... that was a mistake. If I were to do it all over again I would choose a non-runflat winter tire that rides a bit better.

Hi guy's, I was told today by a tire dealer that I can't put Michelin Pilot AS3 on the original rims of my 135i because the rims are made to receive run flats, they told me I have to change the rims, have you heard about that somewhere ??
Thank's |

I put PSS on about a month ago. Best tire I've ever used as well!

Thanks for your comments, I have problem to believe this also, the guy at the dealer told me there was a special lip inside the rim so that when you have a flat , the inner tire will rest on that inner lip, the car is new so I didn't have the chance to see inside that rim. I have extra rims for winter with non run flat tires , I will find another dealer, this one does not accept the installation, thank's again

The Pilot Super Sport is the king of summer tires right now.

I pulled the trigger today and ordered Bridgestone S-04 Pole positions. They will be installed next Saturday. The price difference was too great for me to not give the S-04's a try. Bridgestone S-04's $800 a set vs. Michelin PSS's $1100 a set. I'll let you know what I think.

IMO the S04's feel really inspires driver confidence. I've put about 700 miles on them so far and I am pleased. (previous tires have been RE-11, XS, and other tires used for track days and street driving) My setup tends to oversteer a bit at the limit and breakaway with these tires is very predictable. Steering feel is just outstanding, though I would prefer a bit more of a weighted feel to the steering (though I am sure than is due to my alignment) They are a meaty tire, my 245/35/18 fronts have a 9.8" section width and are about all the front fenders can tuck in there with just alignment and no roll/pull. I have no plans to track day my 135i so I went with a milder tire than the extreme performance tires I have run recently on my S2000. I have not driven on the PSS, but I cant imagine you will be disappointed with the S04. |
