Coding out TPMS
My search on this is not returning anything useful... Does anyone know if its possible to "code out" the TPMS. I don't need it, it hasn't worked properly in 20k, and I'm sick of the always-on warning light I have now, despite my tires being at the correct pressure. I'm so desperate, I've been considering cracking open the instrument cluster and removing the TPMS LED, lol.

Yes, it's possible. I had it done on my 1M. It requires unplugging the TPMS module (location depends on model and year) and then doing some coding work. I had a friend of mine do the coding so I don't recall exactly which parameters were changed.
The other option is to buy a TPMS emulator like the one Macht Schnell makes.

Yes, they run lithium ion batteries. Unfortunately they are not generally serviceable. If Huecifer is having issues, he most likely has a bad TMPS unit. As to which one is anyone's guess.
From what I have read, the expected lifetime of a TMPS unit is 5 to 12 years. As this was legislated in the United States as required in 2007, it should be interesting to see what the failure rate is.
