Using opened oil.
Just thought I would pass along some research that I did. With oil change season coming up for us all, I pondered the fact that we all should have about 1/2L left over from our oil changes. I saved my 1/2 L of oil from last years oil change, with the intention of using it this year. I was a little concerned about using oil that was a year old, though it was kept in my garage and was tightly re-capped right after I poured it into the engine last year. I realize next year I'll have to buy a full 6L, which is fine, but seeing how this stuff is $12/L, I'd prefer not to waste any if it's not necessary.
The consensus is that it will be OK, and I guess worst case scenario if you're talking about mixing 1/2L into 5L of fresh, it probably is only a blip on the radar. Here's a link from Mobil 1. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...s_Mobil_1.aspx
