Exclamation Square wheel (and tire) setup with 261M wheels? 135i

Hello all,

My girlfriend recently bent/cracked a wheel on a pothole and we are in the process of buying new wheels for her. We decided to stay with the oem wheels for now, but due to not being able to find a single used front wheel, we ended up purchasing a full set of oem wheels and tires.

So that's where my question comes in. I don't have much experience at the limit with this car yet. What are your thoughts on using 4 of the rear (18x8.5, I believe) wheels on the car? For now, we will unfortunately have to stick with the stock tire sizes, despite the bigger wheels up front, but I don't see that small tire stretch being an issue. When the time for new tires comes though, we will look into larger tires for the front, to match the rears.

I did a search and it seems like most people like the square setup on these cars. But I have one big question, will a spacer or anything be needed up front to make the larger wheels and tires work? And like I said, what are the general thoughts around here about the square setup? Are there any disadvantages? Keep in mind, we are increasing the front wheel (and eventually tire) size, not decreasing the rear tire size, as I've seen some people talk about here (weird, IMO). The car is completely stock.

Thanks,
John

You can run the rear wheel on the front with a 10mm spacer.
