Tire question
Hey Guys/gals,
So now i have a nail in my rear bridgestone RFT, I haven't lost air pressure yet. I am thinking of changing to the Michelin PSS(non RFT). I searched and read several folks on this forum who have done it. I am going to be puting them on my 296 wheels. I have two questions. 1. Can i put on 235/30/19 in the fronts and 265/35/19 in the rears on my 296 style rims, without any mods and rubbing or any issues whatsoever. 2. Which is the best and most reliable 'flat tire repair kits' for these tires just incase I do get a flat. Hate to be stranded in teh middle of nowhere. 3. Does anyone have a picture of these wheels and tires combo on thier car, that I could possibly have a look at. Thanks and sorry if it is a question that is beaten to death. I was just not able to find a straight forward answer for the 296 wheels.. Thanks, Jake... |

I can answer #2 for you. BMW or Conti make a emergency tire inflation kit. they're both the same, and Conti is cheaper (at Tire Rack).
If you have a pass-through to the trunk, the Conti kit will amazingly fit perfectly in between the inner and out doors, like it was custom made. Can't vouch for the BMW version.

The 296 wheels definitely come in 19, I have them in that size.
As to question #1: - I have no done that yet but recently asked the same question on the boards and to tirerack.com The answers were all... "yup, the 235/265 will fit those wheels as long as they're at least 19x8 and 19x9". The 296 wheels are 19x8 and 19x9 so you should be good. Tirerack even shows 235/265 as an 'optional' size for the car. I decided to upgrade my wheels at the same time, to 19x8.5 and 19x9.5, and will be placing the order today. |

I just relooked at your post and see you asked about 235/30 and 265/35... which is NOT what I am getting or asked about. I am getting/asked about 235/35 and 265/30.. so I am not sure if what you're asking will work
I'm getting the Silver VMR V710 with Contininental DWS (all season tires) Wheels are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5, tires are 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 |

Sorry I might be loosing my mind and confusing myself here with all these threads I have been reading.
Basically I just want to go one size up in the front and rear with my 296 19" wheels and Michelin PSS. My current OEM bridgestones are 225/35-19 fronts and 255/30-19 on the rears. Thanks, Jake... |

I had the 296 rims with 235/35 and 265/30 combination last winter:
For the winter it was ok for me. It fits good. Had 12mm spacers at the rear with slight rubbing on inner plastic wheels housings. For the summer I'd recommend the oem-size 225/35 and 255/30, because the bigger wheels are much more angular on the slim rims. 235/265 is the perfect choise for 8,5J and 9,5J. |

ok I have a question...
19x8.5 front and 19x 9.5 rear. Getting 235/35/19 front Question is: Can I get 255/35/19 on the rear? Everyone says to get the 265/30/19 on the rear... but I saw them today and the profile is very low. I think the 255/35/19 will be a smoother ride. So can anyone explain if 235/35/19 and 255/35/19 work? Any drawbacks? |

The ride and handling are greatly improved with the PSS. I also like the look of the taller profile and less wheel well gap.

The 2 times I've used that kit I have asked my wife to slowly move the car forward while I inspect the tread. I chalk the sidewall to orient myself. The last time I used the kit, it was to repair an OEM RFT that got a nail but had not been driven without air. Fix was fine for 23 months (then I turned the car in) Actually, the reason I went with that kit in the first place was a nail in the tread that the fix a flat can was just ineffective at sealing, which is why I recommend keeping it around as back up. |
