Yes! This thread deserved a thread of its own. I hope it gets stickied.

Man I thought it would look better with bigger pics. It just doesnt...
The front and rear do not connect. What are BMW doing? the sedan and coupe are different and now the sedan has the coupe front? very strange indeed. The rear looks quite tall and bulky compared to the coupe front, it's like the 5 series but worse... I do like the main body, side skirts and wheels. Infact the rear bumper looks better than the stupid diffuser on the E92 M3. It's a lot cleaner. SSII paintwork is nice too. What are they thinking with that powerdome? It's not subtle at all! It's far too big! and why couldnt they give it whitelines? I hate those rear lights! Interior is nice but just like the regular E90. Not impressive. Overall, It's not as impressive as I wanted it to be. I think the E90 M3 and C63 are about even. Both have good and bad points. It only leaves me that the next RS4 will look a lot better than both cars. Also, if speculation is right, the RS4 could outperform both the E90 M3 and C63 Edit: I think the problem with front/rear is the fact that it has a low nose and high bootlid. Look:

These are not US spec cars I don't think. All US M3 are likely to have the sunroof. Although, it is possible (maybe not likely, but possible) they will include a sun-roof delete.
One other thing I am curious about is interior colors. They seem to be going as low cost on this car as they can, being that they used the coupe parts for the a-pillar forward. For interior they can't use the coupe parts for some things obviously, such as for the doors and rear seat area. I wonder if the M3 sedan will get the M3 coupe's interior colors, or if it will have to settle with mostly the same colors as the normal E90, with maybe one or two M specific ones added. Granted, it should not cost too much to simply create the same E90 interior pieces in the M3 interior colors. But again, they appear to be doing this whole thing with as much part sharing as they possibly can. In fact, other than the side skirts, reare fenders, lip spolier, and rear bumper, are there any visible new parts on this entire car? I'm aware there's probably hundreds of new parts under the skin, but as far as aesthetics, this really is mostly a combination of parts we've already seen. It seems the interior is just a mix of E90 non-M and E92 M, no? Not that there is any problem with that, IMHO. |

Am I the only one that thinks the sedan looks better than the coupe? Maybe the side view is a bit busier with 2 sets of doors, but the coupe looks like an afterthought to me from the side. There's just too un-interesting sheetmetal aft of the front doors on the coupe for me, as if the car is too long to be a 2 door. The sedan looks more "complete" or "natural" for the size and shape of the car with the extra set of doors.
I do prefer the taillights of the coupe (actually the entire rear treatment of the coupe looks a little more sporty to me), but other than that, I like the sedan much better. I read the sedan is actually lighter than the coupe, and this along with the fact that passengers won't have to climb over my seats to get in the back makes it a more attactive buy to me. Now, let's see if BMW follows history and offers the sedan for less $$$ than the coupe! Somehow I think this car will be more popular than the M3 coupe, and will either be priced the same or more than the coupe. |

If I'm not mistaken, they flared the fenders on the E92 M3, but not on the E90, right?
If so, what the heck was that for? It would look much sportier with matching fenders! |

surprise, surprise...
i love the E90 front but hate the rear. i love the E92 rear, but could live without the front. so in my opinion, they combined the worst of both worlds in this E90/2 hybrid......thing.

and, do i see parking sensors in the front bumper? now that's just strange. it would totally make sense in a regular 3-series but absolutely doesn't in a performance vehicle such as the M3.

Reading the press release the Sedan seems to be 25kg 'heavier' than the Coupe, weighing in at 1680kg in the EU2 measure and 1605 as the DIN weight. A power/weight ratio of 3.8kg/PS and 0-62km/h of 4.9 secs.
