2013 X6M wheel well gizmo

Hi, just noticed under both my front wheel wells...there is some kind of electronic gizmo with wirings exposed to the open without any weather protection.
See attached pictures.

The service person at the dealership said its normal.

I am wondering how it would survive the Winter element...anyone got an idea?
Is this normal as design or bad workmanship?

thanks

BMW has done extensive cold climate testing before putting this car on the market, they wouldnt leave it like that unless it could survive the elements. It'll be fine!

Yea, it's fine. If you are realy conscerned, just keep an eye on it to make sure salt and grime don't get caked on the wires. Mine has survived NJ winters for 3 years lol still works just fine.

Thanks guys...not that I don't trust good old German engineering.

Will keep an eye on it through this winter.
