Uneven Rear Brake Sweep
Rear pads appear to only be touching the outer and inner 1/2" of the rotor.
The middle bit is not contacting the pad. I can see rust on the middle bit from the last drive in the rain. I have not checked the car side of the rear rotor. What is recommended fix? |

Rear pads are brand new from Feb.
Rear rotors are still original (40,000miles) but had very little wear when the pads were changed in Feb. Thanks. |

Fix depends on whether it's a pa issue or rotor
Check rotor by placing a straight edge across surface. Measure for even wear from inside to putter lip. If there's more a gap I middle. Then resurface the rotors. Pads. Are they oem or aftermarket? If oem check for even wear and grind or replace dependent on amount of material. If aftermarket pads check that are correct size. Fitted correctly. Even wear. |

///M rotors cannot be resurfaced. Min thickness is on the rotor hat. At 40K miles, it's possible you need new rotors. Time to check trueness and thickness.
Yes, torque is 22 ft. lbs. Could be as you say as well, sticking guide pin. |

So I took the guide screws out and cleaned them. The ends nearest the thread did have some build up.
Also, noticed the area on the rotor that is not contacting the pad is within the drilled holes. The holes had some rust and pad material in them. So I cleaned them out with a drill. Took it out for a drive and looks like it may clean up. Guess the buildup at the drilled holes may have warn the pad. Maybe once the outer edges of the pad catch up to the middle it should wear evenly. |

Hope it works out. Next time you have it apart measure the rotors relative to spec. At 42,000KM mine had ~ 40% remaining tolerance. At 70,000KM I would think yours are close.
