88% of 911s are bought by males..

.. do you think the Z4M is higher or lower in terms of proportion owned by men? Nikki can't have been the only Z4m owner.. but how many more females have you known? I don't think I've ever seen another female Z4M owner around here, though internet forums in general seem pretty male-dominated

I'd say at least 95% for coupes. Probably quite a bit lower for roadsters.

Just bought an MC for my wife, so I think she'd count.
I suggested a handful of unique cars, and this was her favorite.
She had an ancient BMW as her first car, and this helped her decision, she loved that car.

Nikki (not anymore though), Skellekitty, Rosie and ZGirl (Lana) all have Z4. Not sure if Lana still has one though.

So that is at least 4 that have had them on this site.

I'm very interested in finding out the true stats. I made a thread about this before with a poll, but our population is small

I would estimate 5% conservatively at that.

We've counted 3 Z4s with females in our town: 1 Z4M roadie, 1 Z4 Coupe 3.0, 1 2.5 Roadie. With my wife, that's 4.

My wife's newest friend (from an art show Krissi was doing) has a Z3 Roadie. Also has two rat terriers. One of the other Z4 females mentioned above had a small dog in the car, and I think it was a terrier too. Nikki, terrier. Abby (Jack Russell terrier, my avatar) is always in the car with Krissi. Geauxkart, you guys don't have a terrier by any chance do you?

My wife's conclusion on this is that women who buy Zs tend to like things that are a bit tough to handle, a challenge, stubborn, demanding, and require some skill/effort. (If you've ever owned a terrier you'll know just what she means.) The Z4 has handling characteristics (can really bite you if you're not careful) and quirks (shifting for one) that make it far from the easiest car to drive on the road. She may be on to something there.

Roffle, it's probably tough to get to the stats you want. I'm curious too, but our sample size is small, and biased a bit too since enthusiasts/board members are largely male as well (no matter what kind of car). I think The Broker's estimate is as good as it gets.

Yes, there is a term for those women/cars....Keepers!

I think the fact that we can list by name all of the ladies on here should tell you something....

I'm also sure that because the Z4Ms are manual tranny only, it scares away more women than a regular z4

A lady colleague of mine at work also drives a Z4 roadster, 2006 3.0i, manual transmission.

And my dentist is the proud owner of her nice Z3 since it was brand new.

Like how you think. I was wondering who would think something like this! Should have known!

I have an acquaintance that drives an alpine white Z4MR in the south bay area, CA. Her name is Lisa.

Also, I see plenty of S2K drivers around here that are female, so girls definitely don't seem to have an issue with driving manual. Maybe it's a Cali thing?

I agree with the fact that the Z4M is driven mostly by men mainly because it's only offered in stick. My current car was also only offered in stick (the VTEC model).

As for the affinity for things that are tough to handle...lol...yeah I think I can agree with that as well.
