convertable top
I have a 2006 Z4 I just purchased. The black top has a few scuff markes in the material. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix them or do I have to replace the top. I assume there is a outer shell and inner shell as part of the convertable top?
Any suggestions? |

It could just need washing. Use a boar hair brush and a convertible top soap to wash the junk out. I thought I had scuff marks from the top being folded, but after a good wash the top looked sharp, dark black again. Coat with a protectant after.

If it's what I think it is, (without the benefit of photos) it's normal wear marks. Mine has them. It's where the material becomes compacted and then burnishes the material. Looks almost shiny where it's rubbed. This topic has come up once in a while. Some thought to dye the areas, but as santov mentioned, washing will be your best and most economical bet. Try 303 or RaggTopp. I've used RaggTopp and it does a good job of cleaning things up.

I have this on mine too. I tried washing it with the RaggTop Cleaner and it did help. The reason seems to be because it's wear and it as if you took a lighter to it and kinda melted the fibers. If its like mine imthe wear marks are kinda shiny as the above poster said.
