Does anyone have Liberty Mutual auto insurance

I'm thinking of switching from the Auto Club to Liberty Mutual since the premium is lower by about $500. For those that have Liberty, is it a good insurer? I really like the Auto Club and not really sure it's worth the $500 savings to switch.

I don't have Liberty Mutual but do work in the industry. They have a very good reputation at least here in Florida. I would not be afraid of making the switch.

I started with LM when I purchased my 2006 330i - because they gave me the best rates. Now I have 2 cars, my motorcycle and house insured with them. Their rates are competative and they have been very helpfull (customer service reps), negotiable (ask for discounts), and reliable (one hail storm claim was considred a "act of god" and did not affect my rates). I'm now with them >5 years free of claims and have reached the "accident forgiveness" status. I would recommend them.

This is surprising, because everytime I shop for insurance Liberty Mutual is always higher than anyone else.

Geico FTW. Cheapest I have found plus have some of the highest payouts in the industry.
Gonna check out Liberty now.

They saved me more than 700/year. I haven't had to deal with them since opening my policy so I can't comment on their claims service

Just checked and they are still higher than my State Farm insurance with the same coverage/deductibles. I am kind of curious about their "better car replacement" program. It says that if your car is a total loss they will give the cost for the car that is one year newer and with 15,000 less miles. So I could essentially get a 2009 E89 with low miles. I wonder what model E89 they would consider as being comaparable?

OP have you tried CSAA (AAA)? Two cars and our house and they have great service and nobody can beat their rates. Obv age and location make a big difference.

Amica. Very unknown company because they only take clients with excellent driving records and do not advertise. However they keep winning the JD Power awards:

"Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among National Auto Insurers, 12 Years in a Row"1 and "Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among National Homeowners Insurers, 10 Years in a Row."

Having made a claim, they really are excellent; and the rate is cheaper than geico's with better coverage.

The only insurance that rates better in the US is the armed forces one: USAA.

I used LM and was a happy loyal customer from 1999 until 2010. I called Geico and found out that I could save close to $900/year by switching. I was blown away and wished I had made that call years ago. So I called my LM agent to give them a chance to compete, but they refused to lower my rate at all which was disappointing. I had to switch. $900 is $900

I think they reviewed their rates about a year later and called me offering a price that was within a few bucks of what I pay with Geico. Pity that they didn't offer me that before I switched.

Other than that, I was really happy with the level of customer service (although I never actually made a claim in that time).

I have yet to find anyone that can beat USAA, but then again you have to have or been in the military or a son or daughter of someone in or has been in the military to receive their insurance.

Top notch, other than their automated phone system, I HATE those.

Having read this thread, I went onto the LM site and generated a quote. They are approximately $700 less than my current provider - Geico.

So, tomorrow I will have a conversation with Geico and if they don't come down, then I am off to LM.

I also have Liberty Mutual with the BMW Performance Insurance Plan and Discount, I have yet to find anyone that will give me a lower rate than LM.

I am a LM employee. Yes the BMW program is excellent. LM also has programs with many College Alumni associations. Check on both discount programs first.

I've been with LM for a few years. Added my home owner insurance to policy after a year. They have best price for service provided. We checked with Farmers, AAA, State Farm, and Century 21st. I like the monthly payment plan without additional fees. All my insurances are part of my monthly expense. It makes it easier to budget.

I think it may be specific to the region, but the ATL guys should price Cotton States Insurance. I had never heard of them until my parents came across the company and surprisingly they are considered one of the best around here. Saved them about $2k in their house alone. It saved me a good bit as well by switching from StateFarm (bike, 2 cars, and house)

Geico ++. $700 per year, full coverage. Had one claim, sent me to a good indy shop, no trace whatsoever of the damage. To this day I cannot understand how the shop did it.

Liberty is a good insurer, but it is also better to try other companies, i'm with Progressive now with good copay and deductibles, full coverage for 750$/year, There's a lot of cheap auto insurance in Florida.

There are lot of factors when it comes to insurance rates so we can't really predict if ours was the cheapest or not. Might as well really check and shop around your area of which one has a great service. Although being cheap really matters, the service is the most important so I think that's the primary reason why we choose a certain insurance company. I don't know if you already switched companies Vertigo but hopefully you made a great decision dealing with the problem.
