Driving Experience *WARNING: Non-BMW Pics

Over spring break went to the new Exotic Driving Experience at Disney's Speedway and drove the 458 Italia and LP570-4 Superleggera.

You get six laps in the car you book ($419 for the Ferrari). Then of course you can pay for additional laps in any of the other car if it's not booked. Of course given the selection there are only 2 worth driving

Unfortunately they put someone next to you with the electric throttle control so you can't push it too hard. Once your ride is done you get to buy the in car video which tracks to Race Keeper. I am sure the track hounds know all about it - pretty slick stuff

I wanted to push the car much harder than they allow - like a race horse you can tell the Ferrari was just waiting to open up. The cockpit is extremely comfortable, all the materials were high quality, handling is unbelievable and the engine just sings...

After 6 laps in the Ferrari I paid for 2 laps in the Lambo. I have to say after the Ferrari - no comparison. Granted it's stripped so minimal creature comforts but roof line so low I had to scrunch since my helmet hit the roof. In true Lambo form you have to stomp on the brakes - no soft touch required. Interior felt cheap, paddle shifters were clunky, the race setup had to be done twice as they didn't take the first time. The engine was glorious but so much louder in the cockpit than the Ferrari you can't hear the conversation in the video. Driving it for extended period on a track (if I could be so lucky to afford one of these) would probably be torture.

Overall - well worth it, highly recommend it! Next time I will just stick with the Ferrari

You make the Lambo sound like a real man's car. What are you? A sissy? Looks like a blast though.

The Lambo is a beast that is a blast to drive (assuming you are under 5'8 which I am not) but as a direct comparison to the 458 it is not even in the same hemisphere. The Lambo won't come close to matching the 458's track times. I would love to be a sissy in the 458 any day of the week

so you'd do it all over again even if they didn't let you push it like you wanted to?

sounds like a cool experience, and I suppose not a bad bang for the buck.

could you explain more about the electric throttle? they limited RPMs somehow? or controlled how quickly throttle response would kick in?
