Another LCI taillight installation
They look nice. Only took about 30 minutes to install. ~$320 from the forum vendors.

Is there a parts code difference for the incandescent bulbs and the LED tail lights?
I ordered parts #63217273427 and #63217273428 (driver side and passenger side). I'm assuming it uses the existing LEDs from my 135i whereas if I owned a 128i, it will use the factory incandescent bulbs? |

I'm not able to find out unless I take apart my tail lights, which I can't at the moment (I'm at work).
Can someone who installed LCI tail lights on their 08'-11' 135i confirm this? |

Mine has 5 bulbs total, 4 of them are mounted to a black piece of plastic that clips in place. Only takes about 15 seconds to remove them from the housing. I'll take pics when I get home.

I should have the same tail light as you though. That being said, after you installed the LCI tail lights were you able to see the same dimming effect when you lock/unlock your car?
You know how the 3 lines will light up slowly when you unlock the car, and it'll slowly turn off itself when you lock the car. When people refer to LED, which particular bulb are they refering to? The brake lights? or the running lights (3 lines in the 08-11 1ers)? Sorry if I asked too many questions, I just want to make sure I didn't order the wrong thing... |

Yes I still have the same dimming effect. It appears the bulbs are actually LEDs, as the dimming effect turns on/off instantly, unlike with traditional incandescent bulbs.
I didn't look at the bulbs included with the new enclosures, I only looked at the old ones. I'll check it out this afternoon. |
