mixed bag...but most people successfully using them smoke test and ceramic coat them (professionally, not the DIY stuff). People have had them fit perfectly, had to do a little persuading, and been not even be close... They are cheap enough to throw out if they don't fit though. I've often considered buying a a few but the install isn't that easy...it's certainly DIYable but it's just fiddly and an a PITA...and would only be worse with ill-fitting parts (ask me about DPs on the N54...)
I'm holding out for euro-headers when the time comes...but my car is so fucking loud as it is, we'll see |

My buddy has a 330i ZHP with ebay headers and they are just fine. His S50 powered e30 also has ebay headers and they are fine too. I plan on using ebay headers when I do my full exhaust and AA tune

I'm pretty sure these are the one's ///M3an One sources on M3 forum. He has them ceramic coated and then sells them for a small profit. Guys seem to have had good success overall. Fit at times is an issue though, but it seems to be luck of the draw.
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=346318 I have a set of ceramic coated ones I was going to put on, but may go a different direction. If you are interested, let me know. They have been test fit, but not on my car.

The tune itself was a decent power and torque increase, but the headers were even better bang for the buck. I just can't promise fitment of other Ebay headers. It's truly hit or miss, even amongst other JVTs from what I've heard. For me, I got my headers off a buddy of mine, from his E46 M3 when he parted his car out. He gave them to me for free since we're good buddies and it cost him only $185 back in the day xD So I didn't have to worry about fitment or anything. The set given to me were already nicely broken in All I did to them was clean them up real good, and DIY ceramic-coated them with header coating paint. All in all, my headers have been hands down my best bang for the buck mod. I would do it over again in a heartbeat. |

sorry, it wasn't meant as a hook, line, and sinker
I merely wanted to respond, because I saw my name being called out Here's the thread with the before-and-after dynos from when I got the AA tune (for when you're bored and have plenty of time on your hands ): http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449998 |

general question
Would someone mind explaining why North American cars came with a different setup to European cars?
In other words, what are the salient differences between a NA car with Euro headers / cats / sensors and an ordinary NA car. That is besides the obvious differences of increased power. Are there differences in the emissions emitted for example? If the two are the same, then why didn't all cars come with the same setup? Sorry for the basic question(s). I'm interested in going to an Euro setup, but I'd like to understand the consequences of doing so. The last thing I want / need is a DriveClean headache here in Ontario. Thanks |

Yeah it's mainly emissions related. North America is more strict about emissions, so BMW had to abide by their regulations.
But arenn't Canada cars already Euro spec? I could be wrong *shrug* |

I'm guessing that even if we use a full Euro setup, headers, cats, O2, EGT we'd probably fail Ontario emissions testing. Maybe another Canadian member could chime in to help. |

US and CDN cars are identical. Stickers on the door sills and french on the visor labels are the only difference...

question for everyone, How do i get the o2s long enough to fit in the relocated spot? i want to be ready when i get the headers and cats to just go ahead and install. Are the wires just folded up? or do i need to do more work than that?

2) Buy Euro rear o2's (good luck) 3) Carefully unfold existing from ECU, then re-route/secure above heat shield on the way back. Detailed info on a few threads here Last edited by johanness; 01-25-2012 at 07:33 PM.. Reason: sp |
