How do CSL differ from Euro headers?

What is the HP difference between CSL and Euro headers to US spec headers?

The CSL is lighter by a 2 lbs than the standard Euro header. Both the CSL and Euro headers are uncatted, and thus will contribute to ~20whp gain.

What's important to note is that our Euro brothers have the csl headers standard. Initially, the CSL header was only put on the CSL M3. During the 05/06 model year, they changed and all euro M3's had csl headers. Likewise, BMW used the same header for the Euro Z4M. So in essence, if you are looking for an exact match for the Z4m this is it. However, non CSL headers would work equally well, and are typically cheaper.

Good info. But what I still don't understand is how euro headers result in a 20whp gain for our NA market cars when the euro version is only rated at 10 crank hp more. Doesn't add up.

From what I've read, the US secondary cats are less restrictive than the Euro secondary cats. The Euro ones are more restrictive to compensate for not having the extra set of primary cats and to still comply with their emissions standards. They didn't need the primary cats like the US cars because there isn't start-up emissions testing in Europe like in the US.

Not saying anyone is wrong but...FACTS

FACT: CSL headers are about 2 lb lighter
FACT: 17 to 23 RWHP gain
FACT: No cats, free flow headers
FACT: March 2005 and up european e46 m3s had CSL headers
FACT: Best bang for buck performance wise besides forced induction.
