quick question regarding nitto invos

I just got a set of used wheels with nitto invos from the forum. The front wheels have the inside on the outside and outside on the inside. Is that bad? The rears read correct outside on the outside. Just drove around the block and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Just don't want my lady driving it and it have something go wrong.

If they have a marked inside and outside, you won't notice anything driving around the block, maybe at the limit. Typically such tires are designed with more stable tread blocks on the outside edge for better cornering. Might be worth $40-50 to have the two incorrect mounts redone for your peace of mind.

I would have them flipped around. The tire obviously wasn't designed to roll in this direction and it could negatively affect wet traction, corning, etc.

They are not a directional tire, but they do have an inside and outside. There is a difference.

Thanks for the clarification ... I just assumed they were directional as well as asymmetrical. Either way they should still be flipped. The car shouldn't corner with all the weight on what should be the inside of the tire. I would think the car would not feel very sharp or responsive with it this way.

I agree, if it was my car I would do this immediately. If it's a wife's commuter car (heaven forbid!) it might not be so important.

there is only either directional and symmetric, or non-directional and asymmetric.

Nitto Invos are asymmetrical. PS2s are asymmetrical. Verdsteins Sessentas are asymmetrical. Advan AD08s are symmetrical and directional.

Not true. He is an example of a tire that is both directional (look for the arrow on the top right portion of the tire) and asymmetrical (look for the 'outside' label on the lower left portion).

I am sure there are more like this but I found this on TireRack just picking the first Goodyear tire I came across.

He probably never even noticed, or he would have had the installer correct it.

True. When you combine that with staggered fitment you have a discreet tire for each corner.
