BMW 135i Manual Quaife LSD conversion build

I get a lot of questions about the Manual 135i Quaife LSD conversions regarding the welded crown wheel issue and questions to why it varies in cost to the Auto. I thought i could share with you guys one of the builds we just did to give you some idea of what goes into building a Quaife LSD for Manual BMW 135i.

If anyone want pricing on BMW Quaife in Australia, feel free to email or PM me your Vin and i'll get back to you soon.

Pardon my ignorance, but is it not possible to transplant an AT crown wheel and pinion with Quaife diff into the manual diff housing or just use a complete AT diff assembly in a manual car?

I'm guessing there must be some issue with this set up other wise surely you wouldn't go to all the trouble of dissecting the manual diff.

The Ratio's are different between Auto and Manual, and the front drive flanges are different, which means the tail shafts are different and are different lengths also.

As far as ratios go, isn't the AT's 3.46 more desirable than the MT's 3.08?

If I ever get one of these things, I'll have to come down and have chat with you Andrew.

Andrew that synthetic cutting lube looks to need a serious dose of biocide & a pH check, otherwise it could be a health hazard. Otherwise excellent machine work!

Praise the lord I had a bolted crown!

I also believe the manual is 210mm while the Auto is ~180mm. The auto one would surely exploded from the extra stress of a manual tranny.
