Got hit and run tonight on Homebush Bay Drive.

Right hand lane in traffic and some 4WD sped up the right hand turn only lane, tried to merge in behind me and took my right rear corner. The dickhead sped off but I got his plate.

Luckily another forum member was driving next to me and saw it all. I called the cops and they are visiting later tonight.

No bad damage. Taken paint off right rear arch and rubber rub on my rear right wheel.

It makes me fucking fume, the asshole just runs. Thank christ I have a plate.

Am I missing something? 3 replies and all crappy towards the OP? Tay, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Hope he gets charged for failing to stop.

You're lucky to have got his plate..Hope it turns out in your favour Alex, once the cops pay him a visit.

My wife had the same experience on Homebush Bay Drive some months ago in her car.

She was heading West, when a girl (P Plater) ran up the back of her in heavy peak hr traffic, just before the DFO turnoff. They both got out of their cars and decided to move out of the traffic further up.
The other car followed my wife for about 20 meters, then sped off down the DFO exit and out of sight..
Need less to say, wifey didnt get the rego of the offending car..

ps: if you were driving a 130i instead of a 125i this wouldn't have happened. Would've easily been able to use the un-watered-down torque in 4th gear to avoid the bumper rub.

No but seriously, that sucks. Msg me their number plate with make/model and I will see what I can find on the 'net.

Cops called around 11pm - was the local police station. They said they want me to come in tomorrow to make a statement as they thought it was too late to come over.

They need a statement to charge him with failure to stop, so at least they're taking it seriously.

If that was me I would have chased down that sob + call cops..

I hate runners! No shit Alex, as long as you are ok. The cops will hopefully handle the situation unless it becomes a headache where the driver isn't the owner and they both aren't insured..

Thanks guys - turns out from the cops he isn't insured so my insurers are chasing him. Might wait a bit and find a repairer who can upgrade my diffuser while they're at it

The popo have been great. Had that call from the local cop shop again tonight saying theyve located him and I'll hear back from them by Tuesday evening, and also saying he's uninsured.
