Old Black Chevy: Need help with paint
I have an 8 year old chevy tahoe that was parked outside and never waxed.
Is there a polish that I can do by hand for at least the hood that will remove the oxidation ? I don't have a polisher and don't want to buy one since I have access to two great detailers here in Southern Cal. This truck isn't worth spending hundreds. Thanks in advance. P.S. It seems like in the old days there was something called a "cleaner" wax. I know not to use rubbing compound. |

autoglym srp available at pep boys might work. But GM paint outside for 8 years without ever being waxed you probably have clear coat failure not just oxidation.

or meguiars 83/80...the oils in those polishes seem to work pretty well with oxidation.
Where in so cal are you...I think I might still have some 80/83 in the garage if you need some? |

oxidation
Eric,
Thanks. I sold it before I got a chance to polish it. Buyer was more interested in mechanical integrity than paint finish. I do appreciate the kind offer. |
