Clear Bra question

before anyone yells at me. i did a search. couldn't find anything on it.
now that i've said that, of course someone's going to post a link to thread right under this quoted thread.

here is the question

my car's in the shop and i'm having my clear bra redone.
the guy is now asking if i want to do the entire hood or just the part i had before (a line just below the "bump" in the hood)

i had a bra on my e46 m3 and that line was VERY visible. this newer version was not so visible.

has anyone had the entire hood done with the newer 3M clear bra? happy, unhappy or pics?

thanks

I don't understand why do cars need bras, There ain't no tits anywhere!?!

There's one boob though right in the middle of the hood.

I haven't had the whole hood done but clear bra installs appear to keep getting aesthetically better...on my ‘08 AW I just turned in the line was noticeable from about 6 feet when clean...Just saw my father-in-law’s new '11 x3 in AW and I had to be about 2 feet away to see it ... I’m curious to see how the threshold line holds up though as it usually becomes more obvious with time due to dirt/grime that can't be removed without clay or other products.

That said the FIRST rock chip on my ’08 was above the clear bra and went down to the aluminum next to the driver side vent 

I'm struggling with the same question myself. I've had it on 2 cars before and it made a huge difference but only lasted for 4 years. If i do decide to do it then i will most likely do the entire hood, front and rockers. There is also a product for the windshield now as well!

I know what you mean.
if you look at the e93 in "my garage" there is a clear bra on i don't think anyone can tell from the pics.
in 3D view (also known a real life) you had to have been with in a few feet and the car would have to be dirty.

with that said....
it does not sparkle after a good waxing like the rest of the car....

Entire Hood....and then some!!

I hate finding a new rock chip or two every time I wash my car!! Full front-end protection solved this problem for me.

I believe my guy uses Venture Shield rather than 3M (don't know the difference, but it has held up well), but before film was available in widths that would allow the entire hood to be done I had two cars done with just the front half or so of the hood covered. Better than nothing, but I was never really happy with the look and, of course, I still got rock chips in the area above the protection.

A talented installer can now do the entire front end of your car and it is damn near invisible. Heck a buddy of mine just had his entire Porsche C4S done. Kind of silly, but to each their own.

I have 5 cars with full front-end protection as well as the A-pillars, side skirts, headlamps and top area of bumper below the trunk opening.

I just sold a 4 year old Carrera that I had a full front-end clear bra installed on the day after I took delivery. 38,000 miles including lots of freeway miles and even with that sloped front end.....pulled the bra off before I sold it and it looked 100% brand new. Not a rock chip anywhere to be found.

The new owner was astounded when he first came out too look at the car. Not only did it make my ownership more enjoyable, but it really helped to sell it quickly and for top dollar.

And don't believe folks who say you can't clay bar or use a random orbital on clear film. My GTI was parked outside, under a tree for 7 months and when I finally got around to washing it the bra had a really nasty, brown stain all over it that wouldn't wash off. 30 minutes with my Flex random orbital and some Zaino PC-Fusion polish and it looked perfect again.

that is a good question.
I used to go to "clear choice detailing" in Conshohocken pa
I had my e46 m3 done there many moons ago.
but when they did my e93 they did a piss poor job.
I have it at classic coach in West Chester, I am having my front bumper redone. and he has "a guy"
lets see what happens

I had mine done at shades or gray...its only been a month but some of the sides on the bumper are peeling....i had the full hood done too. over all the job was not as good as i would have hoped for but i guess it is ok for now.
