Police siren install (Pics & Video)
First, I realize this is not everybody's cup of tea, so please keep those comments to yourself. I'm 32 years old and well aware of the consequences of using this for stupid reasons, which I am obviously not going to do. Always wanted something like this for several years, had some money burning a hole in my pocket so I bought it.
I attend numerous charity rallies throughout the year, as well as a number of track events where my friends and I rent out the entire track for the day. This should prove to be useful and fun. I especially like the "BRRRTTT" warning tone that some patrol vehicles use as a horn. This is the same unit that is used in many of the CA highway patrol vehicles. The speaker unit is made by Whelen and is a slim weatherproof speaker that can accept a 150watt siren. The siren controller has 8 siren tones, strobe controls (I will not be installing strobes for obvious reasons), and a hand held PA system. I had a tough time figuring out where to mount the speaker. It's very heavy, almost 15lbs. I had to make sure the drain holes were properly positioned, and that the speaker face was not pointing towards any obstructions. After removing the 19 million bolts that held on the front bumper I found a place. BTW, my Honda had literally 6 bolts. When I put everything back together, you can't even see anything. I don't have pictures of the interior, but the siren controller is in the trunk. The hand held siren controls/PA system is in the glovebox and can be removed very easily to be used. Obviously it's locked in the glovebox 99% of the time. Here's the video. I honked the OEM horn for sound comparison, but in actuality, the siren tones are significantly louder. The camera (Canon 7D) was set up ~100feet away from the car.

Love it even though I could just be happy with that "BRRRT" tone!

This. If I could just pick up something that does that for less than the train horn setups, my truck would be perfect!

LOL, very interesting. Glad you have it in the glovebox when on the street!
BTW, its 15 bolts to remove the bumper, but 19 million is close! D |
