light scratches, touch up, and color changing???

Hey everyone,
I have a couple of super light scratches on the side of my AW (i am assuming flying debris or something) that become literally invisible when I give them a very light wax. It seems that as the car gets dirtier, the scratches become more noticeable until I rewax the area and then they go away. Same thing happens with a couple of nicks in the sideskirt (wife's heels ftl) that have a bit of touch up paint on them. On these though, the touch up seems more creamish/beige than white until I lightly wax them and then it blends perfectly with the car. Any ideas as to why these two things need consistent light waxes? Should I look into clear coating the areas/other waxing to permanently keep them white? Thanks

If you're using wax you're just filling the scratches in with whatever wax you're using. Some waxes/polish contains fillers which will only hide the scratch. If you truly want to get rid of the scratch you'll need to use a polish that will cut through the paint and remove the scratch. If you haven't already, take your car to a professional detailer and have him take a look at it. I'm sure the socal people will recommend a reputable detailer in your area.

As far as detailing visits, Leo (owner of Detail Addict) might be joining me in attending the LTBMW grand opening at the end of March, and we usually have a booth for bimmerfest. You probably won't want to wait that long, but I am sure the socal people know of a reputable detailer in your area. From what I heard and read Envious Eric is highly recommended in socal. There might be others, but he's on bimmerpost, so you may want to contact him to see if there's something he can do for you. http://enviousautodetailing.com/inde...tpage&Itemid=1
