I agree. Chris over at HPF was even talking about a Stage 1-2.5 kit for the Z4M which would but it powerwise over this car for like $26k alone. Then go to work on everything else.

I bet you could build this car for about $75,000 USD.

Yes, it can be built cheaper. But a used Z4M in Norway with the Norwegian taxes costs 120000$.

The owner says he has spent near 300000$ on this project with all the mods and testing.

Remember that just the dampers set up at KWs test center in germany cost 16000$. (Changing components in the dampers after a simulation of the car at an hydraulic rig, can simulate Norchleife for example).

+1, can't really compare norway's money with ours. Also, I bet putting that sequential in and mating it to the s54 costed a pretty little penny.

I wonder whether it will sell though. Who's prepared to spend that kind of money on a pumped-up Z? Even if you're used to outrageous car prices...

Over here in the Netherlands car taxes are pretty bad as well, though not as extreme as in Norway, apparently, and the result is that you see mainly old and cheap cars on the roads (90's Suzuki Swifts and the like).

I don't think you understand how expensive it is to make one off pieces with such R&D invested in them. To give you an idea, the uprights alone on my university's Formula SAE car cost $5k in machining alone (luckily we get them for free). It's easy to spend $40k on the car each year, and that's with tons of stuff carried over (ECU, tach, etc.). That doesn't consider the hundreds of man hours of labor that were done by club members.

The fact that a 7 Post Rig was used to tune the car (if you look up the word cheap in the thesaurus, a 7 Post Rig is listed as an antonym) should tell you the kind of stuff that went into designing it. Can you create a car that performs similarly for less? Maybe. Can you do what he had done for less? No. As a reference, a new Z4 GT3 costs nearly 300k Euro.

Finally someone that understand the expenses with building a extreme car that works

-Just think of what the gearbox that shall handle 750HP will cost, he had to modify the whole tunnel of the car to get it to fit

-What does the Carbonfibre body special made by the same manufacture as the Z4 GT3 cars cost?

-What about the ESS supercharger kit? Its not an bolt on kit that cost 8000$. I know that the engine was a testbench for ESS, so maby 150-200 hours or more spent on it alone. ESS couldn`t get a big enough Supercharger that had the quality they are known for, so they called ASA in germany to produce a special one just for this car

-What about the true Z4 GT3: carbon wing, diffuser, differential, dampers, swaybars, windows, icom and a lot more components.

-And finally, most of the build was done by the Schubert motorsport Z4 GT3 team!!!

I bet a gt3 certified cage isn't cheap by any standards either.
