As far as i thought the BMW navman is called Idrive and it has to be ordered with the car when its built...

Theres plenty of aftermarkets mods in the electrical section about putting non-BMW nav systems in.

Maybe theres something im not aware of though.

Garage List
AFAIK all the BMW nav units are made by Garmin, and you can buy one along with a modified box to retrofit it into your car, but you'd be up for a bit of dough.

I am positive that BMW was offering some sort of portable Sat Nav device back in 08/09 as part of the corporate program.

Check with your dealer.

It's a Garmin, so it can't be anywhere near as dreadful as the iDrive's nav system.

My Idrive (2010 build) is utter rubbish! My Nuvifone A50 is better in every respect and get this - $200 at tricky dickeys, no lock, no contract and lifetime updates!
