Z4MC in GT5

5 years in development and they still don't get that the first mod on the Z4MC is a stubby antenna. Sigh...

And ESS needs to let them know that a Supercharger should be an option!

Both platforms and games look and play stunningly though

The physics on this game is decently accurate for our car (understeer!!), but the game portion sucks. The standard cars look like crap. The menu layout and functionality is a joke. To be honest, I'm rather disappointed in it as a "game." It's really not that much fun playing through the A-spec. B-spec is underdeveloped. Sigh...I, like many others, were expecting more. That said, I still play it like 3 hours a day...especially since it's winter and the snow tires are on the ///M.

I've only played GT5 twice, and although I didn't play with a steering wheel nor with pedals, I felt that the Z4M understeered way too much. I tried to take Laguna Seca in the exact same gears as I have been in real life, but I suppose due to the lack of G-forces, I brake late and/or turn in late and/or am going in too fast (since I don't usually look down @ my speedometer when I'm on track; though I heard that it's good to do every once in a while for reference sake). But I agree with you on the fact that GT5 was somewhat disappointing. Then again, when stuff gets hyped up like that, it's tough on it. Most are disappointments all cause of the hype, and it really doesn't do the game justice. I'm willing to try the game out a bit more, especially looking forward to playing with the wheel & pedals

I've been playing the hell out of GT5. I bought the Z4MC and bought every part possible. I think it has about 500hp. One of my favorite cars so far out of all the other ones I have fixed up (Z06, 458 Italia, STi). It handles very nicely with the suspension settings I have done to it. Oh, and I am using the Driving Force GT wheel. It's a must-have for this game.

I've got the older GT4 and it has the pre-facelift roadster only. But is kinda fun, even on my kid's old PS2.

Is the Z4 coupe available in GT5 right away, or do you have to work your way through the levels to build up points to buy the coupe?

And, is there a roadster option, and is it a pre- or post facelift version?

Cheers!

You'll have to play a little bit to get the points for any Z4. They have a pre-facelifted 3.0 roadster and a Z4MC. I went straight for the M coupe and it took a decent 3 - 5 hours to get it. Not only do you have to save up the money for it, you have to "level up" to a certain level to drive certain cars.

Thanks! That's a bit different from GT4. In that game, you can just pop in the game and get the Z4 roadster, first time you play.

I think the Z4MC was Level 6 or 7, the Z4 3.0i was something like Level 3. Z4MC is around 69K credits and beginner level races give you between 4K-10K per win. Special events net much more XP and credits.

I've been loving GT5 since I started playing it about 10 days ago, and loved it even more once I got the Driving Force GT wheel. So far the AMG Academy Nurburgring challenges are my favorite. This game really helps take the edge off of not driving the M all winter. The menu system does get a little tedious, and the game is not without a few other flaws, but the main component of the game -- the driving -- feels fantastic.

I played some Forza 3 today, and while it's an older game, I still prefer it slightly over GT5 (or what limited experience I've had with it thus far) =/

Great way to put it. I hate the menu system. Changing cars is a PITA! I've heard Forza is much better in this respect although I've never played it. BUT the driving in GT5 is absolutely amazing.

Was going to play last night, but spent 4 hrs waiting for the system and GT5 updates to load. I guess the servers were over loaded as it was only a 150Mb update. I have leveled up to 18, so close to the damage threshold. I guess that will make me change my bull in china shop starts.

we should add in this thread the different configs and settings, IMO. I'm a newb (never tracked) so I've got mine set around what i've read and learned from this site. haha works well so far!

I hate having to buy more cars to do other challenges...I want to save my money to hook the couple cars i have now!!!

I haven't had much time on GT5 at all, but on Forza 3, with a stock Z4MC, I ran 1:37 on Laguna Seca. Not sure if that's a good time or not for the game, but I know that the real world (non-game) record for stock production road cars was set by the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, which came in @ 1:33.
In real life, I could only get my stock Z4MC to do 1:54 @ Laguna Seca with my work-in-progress driving skill
But that was two track days ago. Since then, I had a rainy track day @ Laguna (which helped me level up tremendously imho) and I've got TCK coilovers installed and dialed in now, so I'm expecting to easily break 1:50 per lap in the dry. My goal obviously is to get as close to 1:33 as possible
