Question Polishing car with a Clear Bra

I have a clear bra on my entire front bumber and part way up on my hood and front quarter panels.

I'm looking at doing a detail on it and getting it ready for winter.

Plan is to Wash
Clay Bar
Seal
Wax

The seal and wax will be done with an orbital polisher. Are there any precautions I should take when going over the parts with clear bra?

I've heard that you are not supposed to clay bar on clear bra nor are you supposed to use abbrasive polishes/scratch removers.

Can anyone chime in?

You will be fine, just take your time. Everything I polish the paint with I use on any PPF (paint protection film) -

99% of the time a medium or light polish (Megs 205/Menzerna 106-85RD etc...)

How about more specifically with using a clay bar on the clear bra?? Can/should you do it?

I wouldn't claybar the CB. I managed to scratch the CB on my wife's car with a soft bristle brush when trying to wash off insect remains.

I just spoke with the guy who installed it and he said no clay bar but you can use sealant and extremely light polish.

I'm just going to leave it alone and do nothing but wax it just to be safe.

Why not use some plastic cleaner like Plexus? Most PPF manufacturers recommend some sort of plastic cleaner. For mine, I use Plexus, and follow up with some Menzerna Powerlock sealant.

So you used a sealant on your clear bra? How did you apply it? by hand or with a buffer?

We do not recommend using Plexus or any of the plastic cleaners. Plexus, specifically carries butane in its formulation that can embed itself into the pores of the film and yellow it over time. We have done extensive testing and developed a solution to protecting paint protection film:

I might have to look into that.

Anyone have experience with these products?

A sealant is fine on clear bra film. I would stay away from Plexus or DP Plex-all. All of the people I know who have used these plastic cleaners end up removing the film because it makes it yellow A LOT faster...
