Why I don't drive my Z4 in the winter
I walked out to my winter car this morning and saw significant damages on the front passenger fender and deep scratches on part of the bumper cover. There was white paint all over the spots of impact. This is at my gf's apartment building and one has to pay to park back there. The space to the left of hers belongs to a guy who just moved in with a white F250. I didn't want to jump to any conclusion just yet and decided to walk around the neighborhood to hopefully locate the offender.
Fortunately, the white F250 was parked right on the street of the apartment building. Long dent on the passenger rear quarter with trailing red paint and all. I took photos of what I saw and called the police. I waited outside for more than half an hour in sub 10 degree weather here in MN. It paid off. The guy walked up to his truck from the back of the building as I quietly follow him. Before he got a chance to enter his truck, I calmly and politely asked that we need to talk. The guy kept denying it was his fault, and said the marks and dents on his truck was from moving. There was no need for me to convince him because I believe I have enough evidences. So I proceeded to take his insurance and driver license info. Please take a look at these photos and give your inputs. Wow. Sorry to see this. Pretty brutal that he is actually denying it.
On a side note, my "other" car is a Camry too. Such a dramatic transition moving from the Z4M to the Camry and vice-versa, wouldn't you agree? To top it off, mine is the Hybrid Camry, with the woefully awful CVT. Good luck with the repairs and hopefully the right party inherits the grief. |

there is no way to completely point the finger but you can make it even more convincing by checking the highest point of damage on both cars. If you did find him...AWESOME....I would be rich if I found every person that hit my car and ran

That neighbourhood looks like a dump.
I would suggest going out with better quality women.

Yes, those are parking spots you have to pay to use. My gf emailed the owner and said how they shouldn't allow such a big vehicle to use that spot to the left of us. Know what the owner's response was? "Sorry for all the trouble, but maybe park further to the right next time."
Back to the cars, before I let the guy drive to work, I told him to think about it and call me before 3PM. He did just that. He was apologetic and accepts all responsibilities. I promptly called his insurance and hopefully this will work out in the end. It's funny how calm I am this time going about getting the Camry fixed. I had a Z4 convertible that was also hit & run last year at when I swore to god I would beat the shit out of that SOB if I ever found him. |

Good to see you have a sense of humour.
Some people on Bimmerpost take things oh so seriously. If you knew me you would know I was joking.

Smart approach rather than escalating things at the time! Keeping your cool paid off (I'll try to remember this if I'm in a similar situation).

My Porsche was H&R when parked. I called my insurance company and a body shop. Our standards are very, very different. Oh, and what does winter have to do with this? EB |

That looks like some back alley parking. Like you aren't suppose to park there.
Sucks to see that happen but I would garage it if you can.

That's awful! He hit it so bad it looks like a Toyota now!
Kidding aside, I recently had my 'other' bimmer hit while parked at the side of the street too... they hit it WHILE parking and still parked right behind me. :/ |

For someone that hit and run and tried to schlup off all responsibility I would most definitely ge physical. Hit and run in a different aspect. I mean, by your ideology, he could call his insurance company and go to the hospital. Broken bones and cuts heal too.

I agree that my standards are different than yours. No one blames you for taking the safest way home. So what's wrong with confrontation and instant karma? |
