Has anyone had this Mirror problem?

I notice this only at night:

1. My mirrors do not darken(no longer anti dazzling) when someone is behind with their brights on.

2. The mirrors (side mirrors) look to have faint clouds(?) or watermarks on the inside of the mirror. Can not really see it during the day, but at night they really show up.

Thanks

I had something similar happen to my rear view mirror. Mine looked almost two-toned, half would fade, half would not, and had the distinct look of being half full of liquid. Took it to the dealer to get replaced under warranty.

It ended up being that the auto-dimming fluid was leaking out. Luckily it didn't leak out of the mirror casing, as I found out that it's caustic and will ruin your interior. While I was waiting to take it to the dealer I laid down several layers of towels in the general area just to be safe. I'm guessing it had to do with the FL heat, as it was especially hot around the time this happened.

I just saw this minor clouding issue as well in my passenger side rear view. It's right in the middle-ish of the mirror and I figured it was just dirty (cloudy). But if that's what it is (leakage from behind eating away at it) then it's going to the dealer for repairs.

Thanks for the 411 sirmalloc!

Had this on my '03. It's the autodimming fluid leaking and the mirror has to be replaced.

Thanks, I guess I'm off to the dealer. Luckily it's literally 2 blocks from me.

1)Mirror cost around $300-400...nutzzzzzzzz at first mines was just a water mark, then one day at the beach it just popped and all the liquid leaked out. I actually took it off, smashed it, so all the liquid came out, then i ordered a precut for $50 of ebay, looks perfect, just doesn't auto dimm. I'll replace it eventually, but I barely notice it..

2) yeah its a DIY, its really easy. Turn the mirror all the way in, towards you using the controls. Use a flat head screw driver, there is a lever, turn it to the left, and the glass with pop off..its a btch to put back, just takes a few mins to get it right.

good luck.

You can get Mirror fluid refill kit at the dealer too. It should be right next to the headlight fluid....

But seriously, this happened on my Mums RR and on my Father's M5. Can they not figure this shite out finally??

the $105 is non-dim.

ah your right it's only $250 for the part, I remember that was with the install at the dealer, they were charging me about $350-400 with the price of the glass. Its such an easy thing to do yourself
