X5M discount 2010 - $10k (can I do better?)
My sales guy is throwing me a discount of $10k on a X5M loaded. I really wanted the 2011 refreshes items but the financing rate is 4.95 versus 6.95 (special now) and I am not sure of the discount he can give me on the 2011. I want him to atleast do $12k and will see what the numbers come to tomorrow.
I love the savings on the 2010 and it all adds up. Just curious but will there be a huge depreciation hit for a 2010 versus a 2011 - may end up keeping the truck for a long time (until the next one). P.S. Love the new Corona Ring lights - I know I can do the rear how about the front lights, can I add the LCI refresh for those?

The depreciation hit is higher early on and will be less if you do keep it a long time, but a 2010 is 7 months old right now, so you are taking a one year hit on it pretty much already (hence the big discount). Overall, if you keep it for a very long time, the 2010 will save you some money over time, for a short period of time, it would be closer and if you sold it after 2 years, may cost you more than the 11. You can easily retrofit the rears, fronts are going to be very expensive to retrofit as they are $1000 each just to buy them at a discount + coding, so unlikely to be worth doing - you would be better off going with one of the aftermarket LED setups like OSS does to replace the rings with LED for $500 or so. There are a few other minor changes in the 11, especially happening in October to add some functions for ipods etc, but nothing major and the difference on the M between 10 and 11 is minor compared to the regular model.
In the US, markup on the X5M is 7k alone, so if you talked a sweet deal on an 11, you should be able to get 6k off (1000 over invoice), so it's really a 4k difference from the 10 to the 11 - might be worth it for the right deal on the 11, or I would probably be going after more off the 11, maybe 5k under invoice (sounds like your about 3k under unless there is more markup in Canada)

Did the deal today on a condition my wife likes it. Got about 14k off with a 4.9% special rate that ends this month. Think I did really well even though it is 3 months ahead of schedule Damn that Carbon Black kicks booty..wow! My friend said they made about $1000 on it - in Canada that is unheard of for an M product unless the dealership is in a jam to get rid of the vehicle.
