Aftermarket hitch receiver for 2011 X5d?
Hello, just bought the X5d, loving it so far. Wanted to see if anyone can recommend a hitch receiver for my bike rack. I don't really need a big towing solution that the dealer sells.
I have a Softride Dura bike rack (http://www.bikerackshops.com/SR26247K.html) and usually carry 3 bikes. I looked around and didn't see anyone selling 2011 hitch receivers for X5, but I guess the 2010 receivers would work. Can anyone suggest which one would be better? http://hitches4less.com/bmw-x5-triler-hitch.html http://www.autoanything.com/towing/B...0A8A101A1.aspx They seem to look different. Perhaps someone had experience with any of them Thanks. Lenny. |

The trim kit is different from 2010 to 2011. You'll pretty much need to go the BMW route for the receiver if you want it to be in the stock location. If you don't care, and don't mind it hanging below the bumper skirt (I think this would be a problem), you may find a U-haul or draw-tight aftermarket setup. From an asthetics perspective, I think you'd be better with the BMW option, even though it'll be pricey.
If hitches for less brings one out for the 2011 X5, it'd be fine. They make pretty decent stuff.
