Finally...

Got a word from my CA Mike L. at BMW of Tenafly,- My M3 is on Fidelio, departed on 8/4 and due to arrive NY/NJ Harbor 8/18

Anyone else on Fidelio?

When I found out the name of ship my M3 is on, I thought it was kind of a funny name,- Fidelio... made me think the origin of such name as Fidelio would be something as spain, portugal, south america, or italian? So I did google search and came up with this:

Fidelio (Op. 72) is a German opera in two acts by Ludwig van Beethoven. It is Beethoven's only opera.

Now I have even more respect for a ship with such uniquely great name that carries my M3... Fidelio!

I was bored and decided to get some facts about Fidelio.

Here is what I found out:

-The ship is having capacity for 8,000 cars or combination of 3,484 cars and 468 busses or heavy vehicles.

-The ship is having 13 cars decks, 5 from which are movable.

-The car carrier has gross tonnage of 71,583 gross tons and net tonnage of 33,546 net tons.

-The ship's main engine is MAN B&W 7S60MC-C with total power of 21,490 hp at 105 RPM.


What an amazing engineering wonder this ship is

There was a great show on the Discovery Channel (I think it was Dis.) about this ship or a sister ship and the loading, Atlantic crossing and unloading of the high-end cars and heavy equipment. The logistics in loading and unloading alone were pretty amazing!

Oh, I've been doing that for little while,- posting photos of cargo ships with other members precious cargo ... Fedora for example

It's fun to be watching ships and taking photos, helping out other members, but... doing it for myself is absolutely awesome!

Got my M just now,- it is awesome!

...took 2 days from ship to showroom. Was delivered to showroom by truck at 7:30 AM, picked it up at 3PM!
