MCB 2010 Edition M3 with Akra... & powder
Special request to powdercoat the exhaust from the cans to the tips. Tips are gloss black, rest is a matte black. Not so great iphone pics, but they give you a good idea. I wanted to camouflage the cans because of BMW's bad job at hiding the OEM muffler with the rear bumper.
Oh, and it sounds grrrreat! Enjoy. Before After (crap iphone pictures) Thanks to Nate and guys at IND. Real professionals over there. Last edited by MonteCarloM3; 07-16-2010 at 05:03 PM.. |

Powdercoating an exhaust is a bad idea. Ceramic coating would have been the better choice since it can hold up to extreme heat without cracking / flaking

I can see powder coating the OEM exhaust, not the Akra. I would show off the titanium tips, but I guess that's just me. Still, she looks good.
Cheers.

When I got the tips done on my R8 I had them ceramic coated because I've seen first hand what happens to exhaust components when you powdercoat them. It cracks and flakes off If thats the look you are going for, more power to ya |

Not sure... It seems you need to go with a high-heat powder coating for the exhaust. But then again, they talk a lot about headers in this thread, which obviously get much hotter than the exhaust itself would. Time will tell!
