Track Video - BIR
I went to a track event this past weekend at the BIR in Minnesota. The event was sponsored by the PCA.
I am a novice driver, this is my second track weekend. For this particular weekend there was no instruction, and no cones (my first solo) The M3 is stock with the exception of a Dinan exhaust. Overall the weekend was good but the stock brake pads were a problem - deposits/fade. I made a post in the track section on the brake issues. You will notice in the video the shake during braking (the sound is the camera rattling against the mount) from the deposits. I'm also attaching some pictures. A modified M3 showed up late on Sunday. I didn't get to see it on the track but figured I would share some pics. The owner also had a track prepped GTR and a 911 Turbo - nice. Video #1 Video #2 The car passing in Video #2 is a 2010 GT3 RS |

Yes, crazy that he stripped it. I talked to him and sounds like he pretty much did it right away, same thing with his GTR. Can't imagine getting a brand new car and stripping the interior to the metal. I'm sure it's fast as hell though.

Nice vids and performance, you could of cornered a bit harder/faster, also that track needs the corners to be a bit closer. Damn near get another gear in before the other corners

I would agree I'm nowhere near the limits of the car, but that will come with time. Track pads and better tires will help as well. As for the course, it is very fast, never go below 3rd gear. The straight and the first two turns after are really fun - high speed.

Did you ask him how much the car weighs now?
Thanks for the vid.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I failed to inquire about the weight saving so I don't have any information on that. If I see him out again I'll ask. Also, I know the shop that did it, so if I'm over there I'll ask them as well. Looked pretty sweet.
