So excited (pics included)

So even though I still have a couple months left in Iraq, my car is sitting in Germany at my local dealer and waiting for me to get back to pick it up.

US Specs, AW, ZCP 2 door coupe with the CF roof, M-DCT, and more... Can't wait to redeploy so I can enjoy!

Obviously a lot of money to be made in Iraq if your able to pay off your debts with your first deployment and then buy an M3 with your second deployment.

The spoils of war, heh!!!

I don't know how you meant that but it comes off as kind of obnoxious like the OP did something wrong or doesn't deserve it

Having been myself it's not really that much when you consider it's 12-14 hrs every day. Secondly you aren't SPENDING money which makes the big difference.

Nice M3. Ugh, counting the short days will be even harder now knowing your car is waiting for you.

congrats!!

These poor guys get paid crap compared to what contractors make. Honestly, the man deserves at least twice what Uncle Sam is paying him.

Congrats on the ///M and stay safe so that you could come back and enjoy it!

Thank you for your service!

Uncle Sam spends other peoples money. My money and your money (assuming for a second that you do pay taxes). If you think that the man deserves more, how about you put your money where your mouth is and send the man a check. That would show how you truly feel...

He does deserve every bit of that car. I'm suppose to be in Afghanistan at the moment and my squadron has taken a few hits down there...so I'm fortunate.

SO I BOUGHT A NEW 2011 ANYWAYS!...

Thanks to all! The wait is a killer, I'm struggling, haha...

And like was mentioned earlier, the biggest thing is just not spending anything. Plus, my other deployment was a 15 month deployment, so I made a lot more and was able to pay off my school loan with it.

I've saved pretty much every dime from both deployments to pay off debt and buy this car. It is what I wanted

Quite an attitude for someone with 3 posts. You're missing the point entirely but thank you for explaining how taxes work, though.

You appear confused or just overly snide: the issue of whether or not you agree with how the government spends the revenue it gets from taxes is entirely separate from whether a member of the armed forces deserves his pay and has earned his pay or even more than the amount he has received. Furthermore, one can sincerely express gratitude for his service to his country without sending a check. For most people there are multiple ways to say thank you without just handing over cash-jeez

Well, I've already paid my dues. Nine years in the US Navy serving as a Tactical Comms guy supporting direct combat operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq....out in the field and all that implies. As a civilian, Computer Engineer, I am designing and helping build the systems that keep these guys safe.

I often deploy to these shit holes to test and deploy new systems. I still pay my taxes...a fair share at over 30%.

So, I do put my money where my mouth is. WTF do you do?
