Question Smoked Tail Lights, Yay or Nay?

IB M3. Should I "smoke em if I got em"?

Got tints several weeks ago.

If you're going for the blacked-out look, maybe.

The reason why I'm not blacking out the rear tail lights is because I don't want any reduction in seeing the LED lights.

If you do black them out, don't black 'em out really dark......Go for the 'slightly tinted' look.

(btw, I voted for the 'you idiot...' choice only since I thought that was hilarious! )

Definitely wouldn't go too dark.

Glad this thread got moved to this dumping ground of a sub-forum to die.

I got my tails lightly smoked with the lightest film they had. Doesnt really look gangster or reduce light from the tails, just subtly blends better with the car. Cheap and easy to reverse mod (if you dont like it)

I personally just did the bottom clear stripe (turn signal). Looks OEM and very clean!

Finished product!!!

i think if your going for a murdered look then smoke the whole taillight leaving the turn signal clear. But if not then i say leave them alone.

I think it really depends on the color of the car. I would only do it if my car was black

I am actually planning on doing it this weekend on my car. Just like how the 808 car did and my car is AW. I'll try to post up some pics after i get it done.

I think it looks good if you have the blackout look on the rest of the car. I am doing a similar blackout theme on my car, I need to do the tails soon to complete the rear look.

We offer a tint film that you can apply over your factory tails so it's not permanent either.

Nick, how easy is the film to install? If one were taking his time to do it right, about how long would it take to do?

Which brings me back to my original dilemma. It looks good on JB, but, what about IB? I'll figure it out eventually.

That's why I was thinking the tinted film might be good -- just to see how it looks. If you don't like it, take it off. If you like it and want something more permanent, get it painted and clear coated.

Exactly, I actually put no thought into doing it, it was a spur of the moment thing while i had my car in to do the shadowline trim.... I figured, the worst case scenario, I dont like it, I peel it off and wash the residue off the lights, no biggie.
