turning off compass display/i-pod shuffle?

Day one- love the car-hate the compass direction on the mirror! Manual describes a button to turn it off but there is no button and CA says it cannot be turned off-true??

Also seems i-pod shuffle is not available-boo hoo my favorite and my idea of an alternative to sattelite radio I skipped- but is it availabe??

I personally like the compass in the mirror, not much help in turning it off.

Not sure what you mean by "ipod shuffle" do you mean you can't use it with your car or you can't get the "shuffle" option to work?

I use a brand new ipod nano in mine, but I noticed I had to turn on the "shuffle" option in the ipod before the "Random" function on the stereo would work.

When my ipod is connected the controler on the ipod itself is locked-so do I disconnect it set it to shuffle and reconnect it?

i think the means the smaller ipod below the Nano
it does work but with a standard 3.5mm aux in adapter
so you are only connecting the sound, but you can not control forward reverse etc

When it is locked and connected to the car just go to songs>than click Any song to get the options>Now click random and that is how you make your iPod shuffle through all of the songs

Will work in all other options too if you want to do it buy albums or sons in one playlist etc etc

But I don't know why the mirror bothers you, I barely notice it. Besides you're supposed to look at the road ahead of you while driving

Of course I want to look at the road that's the whole point the bright letters are VERY distracting to me-perhaps in time my brain will adapt and ignore but for now it takes alot of energy to push it out of my conciousness.

Will try i-pod suggestion later but mine says all songs rather than ANY-is that what you mean or could my(origonal 120 gig ipod be different?
