Note to self never trust wife to Mod M when deployed

I will try to keep this story short. I am a Soldier deployed in Iraq and I thought it would be a good Idea to continue to buy mods and have trust in the wife take the M to places to have the stuff mounted or installed.

Well she was doing a good job so far painted reflectors got mounted, took the M to get Hamann front lip repainted, Had the blackout headlights and blackout tail lights put on. Then the very last mod needed to be replaced. My carbon fiber front grills, because the ones that was on the car were defective and bent out of shape. On her way to Austin BMW to get the grills replaced she hits something in the road on the freeway that she could not avoid because cars to the left and right of her and she did not want to slam on the brakes. This happened just before her exit and it damages my Hamann front lip spoiler that was repainted less than a week ago due to rock chips. The front lip spoiler was hanging down a little on the driverside because the screws came out from impact and it cracked

She had BMW put more screws in and mount it back on after they put the new carbon fiber grills on the car. I will post pics of the mods and damage. One pic shows the front lip section before it was cracked.

Ohhh and don't worry the wife works and she will pay with her own money what ever it cost for a new Hamann front lip spoiler custom painted and mounted

damn SHADY that sucks. Hope everything turns out though... by the way the car still looks hott...Did you smoke the lights to the same color as your car? Really stands out from the haze of m3's

I know how some chicks are when it comes to wheels and there was no way I was going to risk my 360 Forged wheels to get curb rash

It will take about 2 to 3 weeks to get another Hamann front lip spoiler from Germany

She was trying to help you, she shouldn't pay.

You should pay for putting her in that position.

It's not big deal and she was just doing you a favor + you should be happy she was taking her shopping time to actually go do stuff on your car. Most wifes would not be doing that... Be glad and give her a brake. It's just a lip. Get another.

Yeah it's just a lip, better the lip than the car it self and her being safe of course

I been ordering and paying for the mods so far looks like I will foot the bill to replace this lip. OOhhh and do it myself to make sure it's done right.

She won't be put in that position again trust me, let alone the driver seat. I will pay like I been doing ordering mods only thing that will be different I will have it done myself when I get back

Sorry about the car. My wife took the M3 to visit her family in VA Beach this weekend (about a 3-hr trip). She knows how obsessive I am about caring for the M3, and for this reason, she usually does not want to drive it. However, she is a safe driver and generally very good about not damaging our cars. We make good money, but are not rich, and she allows me to indulge in my rather ridiculous car habits without much complaint, so I figure the least I can do is allow and encourage her to enjoy my toys as well. In the end, it's just a car, and it is fixable or replaceable. My advice (which I know you did not ask for

): Be happy your wife is safe (and tell her that) and don't let a car cause issues in your marriage or keep you from sharing 'your' car. Otherwise, you are treating your wife as only a girlfriend. Good luck with the repairs and come home safely!

That's why my wife doesn't drive the M. No issues, no friction.

I do like shadys wife wearing Ferrari red driving boots though. At least she's wearing the correct footwear (for track driving).

Sounds like it was't her fault. Sometimes, you just can't avoid it. Was the lip authentic? That is why, I am getting a rep for front lip.
