iPod Connector Issue: Stuck in Armrest

Finally hooked up my iPod in the car using the supplied USB/Aux Y-cable. Worked fine initially, then started acting "weird": I could here the "click" noise of the click wheel even while a song was playing, and occasioanlly it would simply dump out of the Aux Input Source and go back to FM on the iDrive display. Couldn't figure it out, thought my iPod was junk.

Turns out the USB/Aux Y-cable was getting pinched in the arm rest and causing these issues. Re-routed the cable away from the hinge and all seems fine. Anyone else notice this?
