Rattle Noise
I've had my 128i Vert for 3,400 miles so far and I just noticed a rattling noise coming from the passenger side door / safety belt area. For the last 500 miles I thought it was something in the storage area banging whenever I hit a bump but yesterday emptied out the bin and the noise was still there.
I guess I have to take it in to have it looked at:iono: . |

I don't even have my car stateside yet, but I have the same noise coming from the driver side door/seatbelt area. It bugged the crap out of me on my ED trip but I guess I will get it addressed by the dealer when it gets here.

I have (what I think is) the same rattling noise. Sounds like a vibration of loose, hard plastic (at a fairly high frequency). Did you get it resolved? Have you pinpointed EXACTLY where it's coming from? I hate having the door panels removed, but BMW already did for my driver's side (when changing out a window)... and they put it back very nicely with no knicks, scratches, or rattles. |

There are a ton of rattles in this car... I had one near the steering wheel, turned out to be the cruise-control lever. Had a loose piece of pastic in it.

FYI,
I have zero noise other than that damn whistle caused by the clearbra I have yet to fix. A person not too long ago, had this, and it added to him trading in his 1, and buying a truck... (he got a good price) I don't blame any1 for going nuts. I HATE RATTLES TOO!!!! (in cars, cribs it's ok) Not that anyone cares... But I do like to rattle on... I once had a F*rd Tempo 20 years ago, and it had a rattle, when I brought it in... there were like 4 other things wrong with the car, that they never got to the rattle... dash being crooked like 2 inches, buttons heating up in the sun, and falling off, that they never got to the rattle... When I was rearended and the car turned into an accordian, I found the reason!!! It had a screw missing on the outside trim against the back side window, and it vibrated against the window only after 80km per hour speeds... It drove me nuts for a long time. Because F*rd treaded me like total sh*t I vowed never to own another... But I still hate those pesky noises. Good luck on finding the solution and just be glad it's not a F*rd Tempo! (I slap myself daily for buying that hunk-of-junk, even lemonaidcars.com gave that car a very low rating) EspressoBoy |

I don't have any rattles thankfully although the passenger seatbelt catch bangs against the B pillar constantly which is annoying. I may stick something soft to it to stop the noise.
Other than that the only annoyance is the wind noise at high speed.

I thought I had a rattle coming from the passenger side window and after going for a drive with a service manager he felt that it was also coming from the left side dash vent.
They took it apart and added some anti rattle tape around the vent area and the majority of the noises went away. I can still hear some noise from the window area however I am wondering if after switching to winter tires - the ride has softened and the noise has dissipated. Will have to wait till spring to see if it returns. On UK preface lifted 1 series there were a number of problems with poor seals around the door frames on this same side causing the exact same issues that I would hear - Rattling from the window when it was cold. I searched around and found the issue with 3 series too. Here are some links that I saved that talked about fixes. A 1 series where the dealer fixed the window rattle by changing the door seals. http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtop...2ff2a&start=15 about half way down there is a fix with lubricant by a UK dealer on a 1 http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtop...rattle&start=0 perfectly describes problem and mentions the old BMW branded product as a fix. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=window+rattle another option used by a dealer in the USA as it sounds like the BMW product is not longer avail in north america http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39...i-pfledge.html |

I have a rattle in the RT door that you can hear only going over rough pavement. It sounds like something is loose, maybe a regulator or the glass rattling against the belt weatherstrip.
I'm bringing my car in on Monday or Tuesday to have it looked at. As soon as I get it fixed I'll post. -Ant |

There is only one proven formula for 1 series to diminish rattles.
Choose 125i/128i with 17 inches wheels, non run flat tyres and no sport suspension (way softer ride and less vibration). Add optional premium hi-fi system and don't forget to turn it on. Put good exhaust system that constantly masks any low level noises and rattles. Drive in DS (with auto of course) or lower gears. If you notice rattles after that, well, sell car and buy 7 series. |

Where to I start? I located the steering wheel rattle, was the cruise control stalk...part on order. As for the B-pillar rattles, they are worse under 50 deg F, but I still hear them creak in warmer weather.
Can you guys provide a little more detail in the type of rattle you're hearing. For example, is it a "rattle" or a "creek." My cruise control was a clear Rattle, hitting on on bumps and rough roads. The B-pillar is more of a creek, a constant light tapping with a closer correlation to chassis twisting. |
