XM Sirius Merger DONE
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...l?hpid=topnews
Note: All current radios will work, but only new radios will be able to pick and choose stations from each provider. Give it a couple months till the new units come out.

I find it extremely disturbing at how long the FCC took in approving this merger. It wasted billions in stock devaluation, and over 70 million, out of pocket, from XM and Sirius combined. Nearly two years to approve a merger of two hemorrhaging companies is criminally negligent, in my mind.
Somebody had to have been purposefully delaying this decision, hoping one or both would fold, and that's not out of the realm of possibility still, because of the money they'd been footing to try to get that merger done. |

I made some good money shorting Sirius. I was normally long in the position but last year I decided to start doing what everyone else was doing. It seems this was the only way to play the stock.

Even if they do make a dual tuner, I expect it will take much longer for it to get into the BMW integrated unit, than as a retail standalone unit. I'm not holding my breath !!

They promised to get dual band radios out within 9 months and they also promised to publish the spec on them immediately and to license to anyone so that other manufacturers could make dual band radios. Hopefully this will free the logjam and we will see further development of built ins. I just can't see sticking a SkyFi on the dash of a car as nice and clean as the 1.
