iPod name change?
I hooked up my iPod to my car yesterday and the first thing I noticed is that the name shows up as "Dan's Mi" in the menu. The iPod is named "Dan's Mini" but apparently there is a limit on the number of characters iDrive can display. So today I decide to rename the iPod to "My iPod" in iTunes. It seemed to work and the computer now shows it as "My iPod" but when I plug it back into the car it still remembers it as "Dan's Mi". It's like the car stored the name in it's own memory and is not updating to reflect the change I made. Does anyone know of a way to reset that?
Also, does anyone know a way to get it to display the currently playing song name along the bottom of the screen instead of the iPod's name? That would be cool too. Dan |

Not the iPod, but I noticed that it remembers things about my bluetoothed phone too. Last night a friend called me while I was driving and I hit the phone button twice instead of once and answered and immediately hung up. I manhandled the phone and called her back but got her voicemail. So I then I decided to use the voice command to call her back and when I said "redial", it dialed the last person I'd dialed using the radio buttons instead of the last person the phone actually dialed.

You have to reformat the ipod first then change the name or else the ipod will be forever recognized as Dan's Mini. And also change it on you main computer with all your mp3's

It is not a BMW quirk. Try pluging in your ipod to another computer it does the same thing. Plus reformating isn't a bad thing you just load all your songs over again it doesn't take that long. Unless you have some videos on it.
