IPOD issue

I have been driving around for the last 3 weeks with my IPOD hooked up to the Ipod/USB connector with no problems. On Friday, my Ipod was dead totally drained. Isn't the Ipod/USB connector suppose to keep the Ipod charged?

It does not (or did not for me). Don't know why - but I had the same complaint. Also why I changed over to the USB interface...

Yes the Y-cable should be charging your Ipod. However, those cables are pieces of crap, sometimes giving you poor aux connection causing your ipod to cut out or your situation where it does not charge. Go get it replaced and make sure the new one is good. I've gotten bad replacement cables.

Are you using the supplied USB/Aux Y-Cable? It should charge your ipod.

Yep. My car came with two cable. One is just a single line. Not sure what it is for. The other one is the Y-Cable and that is what I have been using. I charged up the Ipod today and will see if it goes dead again. If so, I guess I'll have to make a call to the dealership.

Will check and see if I did, or if that works. Thanks!

What do you mean by plugging to BOTH sockets? (I don't have the car yet) I thought that you just need to plug the usb connector and the aux is free....

There are two packages you can order. You can get a cheaper iPod adapter thing where they give you a Y cable or you can go with the USB integration where the stereo recognizes an iPod just as a generic USB drive with music on it. You have to manually move through the folders and can't browse by Genre or Artist or anything like that with the latter option.

Actually this isn't right. The integrated package uses the Y cable, and it doesn't see the IPod as a USB drive. You have full access to playlists that are created in iTunes.
