Clearcoat hardness on BSM paint
Hey guys, I've done some researching and have heard that black sapphire metallic paint is quite hard compared to jet black but I've also heard that the paint and clear on these F8x is quite thin. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?
Cheers

Hmmm. I have both BSM and JB and the JB car seems to have much softer/weaker clear.
However it's older (2012) and lives outside so IDK. Every car is gonna have a slightly different clear coat thickness. In summary I'm not much help 😁 |

My BSM is rock chipped and swirled pretty bad. Only sees hand washes too.

No experience with bsm, but with mgm it was a hard clear, didnt test depth of clear or the paint. It didnt like any of my 1 step polishes so I had to be slightly more aggressive and 2 step compound and polish the car. the clear on the cf roof was the same.

My BSM seems pretty "normal" as far as hardness and durability. Paint is really thin on these cars these days. Went with PPF quickly after purchasing. My car even smelled like fresh paint when I got it new.
