Cement drops all over my car
On Monday, the 18th, I was driving my brand new car through the lower lever of the Verrazano Bridge from Brooklyn towards Staten Island. On the upper level of the bridge, constructor workers were using water during a concrete saw-cutting operation to mitigate dust. That water was dripping onto lower level traffic. Thousands of thousands of cars were damaged by that watered down cement dust, including mine. I spent 5-6 hours that day cleaning my car as best as I could, but still more needs to be done. I’ve already made appointment with my local detailer. The detailer said he will lift my car, remove the wheels and spray the wheel wells and underneath it with vinegar and then give it a good bath. Any other safe ideas??? I also ordered Back-set organic cement dissolver. Did any of you guys ever used this product? Thank you.

Wow. I would be furious. I don't even know where to begin with that, what a mess.
Good luck, I hope your detailed can get that cleaned up for you. Has anyone filed any complaints about the company doing the road work? |

I washed the car like 3 hours after the incident after I got home. To my luck no hand car washes were open. At first, I thought the same thing it will hose right off, but it didn’t. Spraying it with water or soap wasn’t really doing anything especially inside the wheel wells or underneath. It looked like spilled dried out milk.

Yes people did file claims with TBTA and after it made to our local news the contractor who’s responsible for this whole mess has hired some amateur “car detailer” I don’t want their lousy $20 basic hand car was.

Another thing that worries me is that this crap also made its way through the front bumper opening. There is no way for me to clean it off in there without removing the front bumper. Spraying through the opening with water and soap doesn’t do anything. It needs to be clean with a sponge. Not sure if I want to go crazy and start removing the bumper, I maybe overreacting, but It makes me worried that if left untouched it could cause corrosion.

Saw this on silive... owww. Removed a cement dripping before by soaking a paper towel with vinegar and leaving it on the cement for 10-15 minutes then blasting it off with a pressure washer. Best of luck. Screw this contractor.
